Set up your mail on your Mobile Devices

This tutorial shows how to set up your E Mail account on an Iphone or Ipad

Our new server supports POP3 and IMAP and most people will of course choose IMAP to use with their Iphones / Ipads as it supports folders. If however you do want to set up a POP3 account on your IPAD - CLICK HERE

Configuring Apple iPhone

  1. If this is the first account you’re setting up on the iPhone or
the iPod Touch, tap Mail. Otherwise, from the Home screen
tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Add Account.
  2. Tap Other.
  3. Tap Add Mail Account
  4. Enter:
    • Your Name
    • Enter your full E-mail Address. Example: info@example.com
    • Your E-mail Password
    • A description.
  5. Tap Save
  6. Tap IMAP
  7. Enter;
    • Incoming Mail Server as webjectives.myhyve.com.
    • Your full E-mail Address. Example: info@example.com for User Name
    • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) as webjectives.myhyve.com
    • Your full E-mail Address. Example: info@example.com for User Name
    • Your E-mail Password
  8. Tap Save.
  9. A warning ‘Secure Connection Failed’ will appear.
    Tap continue.
  10. Tap your email account.
  11. Scroll down and tap Advanced.
  12. Set use SSL to OFF.
  13. Tap the top left arrow to go back.
  14. Tap SMTP.
  15. Tap your Primary Server.
  16. Set use SSL to OFF.
  17. Tap Server Port and enter 25

Note: If you Intend travelling abroad - it is a common practise for some ISPs to block port 25 ( Hence you cannot send mail while you are outside the UK from Tablets and Phones) . If this is the case - you are better off to choose Port 587 for the Outgoing Server ( SMTP) which is less commonly blocked abroad and also will send mails with no problems in the UK **

We have no control over which ports overseas ISP's may block - so for safety we recommend you set up a gmail account or similar so you can use your tablet / phone abroad

The other workaround is Webmail - where you access your mailbox through a Browser. Simply type in webmail.yourdomain.co.uk for example and then enter your user name and password. You can then send and receive m
ails through the web browser without this restriction ** See our tutorial here : http://webjectives.co.uk/using_webmail.htm

Your iPhone is now configured to send and receive email

THE ACCOUNT AGAIN .......

WHEN VERIFIED IT WILL COME UP WITH THIS SCREEN

GO TO YOUR MAIL APP AND OPEN IT - YOU WILL SEE THE NEW ACCOUNT

SELECT THE NEW ACCOUNT AND YOU WILL SEE THE IMAP FOLDERS ARE ALL SHOWING

INSIDE THE ACCOUNT AS BELOW

IMAP IS RESOURCE HUNGRY !

IT DOES NEED MAINTENANCE ( AND OLD MAILS ARCHIVING FROM TIME TO TIME TO PREVENT YOUR MAILBOX FILLING UP ON THE SERVER.

WE RECOMMEND " MAILSTORE " WHICH IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD AND USE DOWNLOAD A COPY HERE - ( IT IS VERY EASY TO USE )

Click here for our Mailstore Tutorial

WE RECOMMEND YOU INSTALL THIS ON YOUR PC - AND RUN IT EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS - TO KEEP YOUR MAILBOX CLEAR OF OLD MAIL

WHEN YOU RUN IT - THE SOFTWARE WILL REMOVE ALL MAILS OVER 4 WEEKS OLD FROM YOUR PC VERSION OF OUTLOOK ( AND MAKE A FILE LOCALLY ON YOUR PC ) WHICH YOU CAN VIEW YOUR OLDER MAILS ON IF YOU NEED TO REFER BACK TO THEM

THEN THE NEXT TIME YOU TURN ON YOUR IPHONE OR IPAD AND SYNC THESE WILL HAVE GONE FROM THE MAIN MAILSERVER - BUT YOU CAN STILL VIEW THEM BY BROWING THE ARCHIVE FOLDER IN MAILSTORE.

WE ALLOW A 300MB MAILBOX WHICH IS PLENTY FOR IMAP
